The Northeast Corridor Line is a commuter rail operation run by New Jersey Transit along Amtrak's Northeast Corridor. It is the successor to commuter services provided by the Pennsylvania Railroad along the section between Trenton, New Jersey and New York Penn Station. At New York Penn Station, trains are either turned around for service back to New Jersey or head to Sunnyside Yard for servicing.
Amtrak's Philadelphia- New York Clockers, primarily used by commuters, last ran October 28, 2005, and on October 31 New Jersey Transit began operating several extra Trenton-New York express trips to partially replace the Clockers, operated as 39xx trains. Connecting SEPTA R7 Trenton service between Philadelphia and Trenton is listed in the timetable.
Currently, no Northeast Corridor Line trains use the Waterfront Connection to Hoboken Terminal; passengers bound for Hoboken can transfer at Newark Penn Station or Secaucus Junction.
Peak period trains arrive in New York City on weekdays between 7:01 AM and 9:19 AM, and leave New York City on weekdays between 4:01 PM and 6:52 PM (although some of the trains involved are, strictly speaking, North Jersey Coast Line trains, which use the Northeast Corridor between Rahway and New York). Rolling stock
All service on the Northeast Corridor is electric and uses either Budd/ GE Arrow III electric cars built in 1978 or push-pull locomotive trains ( ALP-44 or ALP-46). These trains are made up of Comet IIM/Comet III/Comet IV/Comet V cars or the new Bombardier Multilevels.
